I recently got an assignment to photograph an alumni of Texas A&M Universlty for Spirt Magazine (the alumni publication for TAMU) Bryan Trubey of HKS Architects. Bryan was named one of the “20 Most Influential People in Sports Facility Design, Architecture and Development” by Sports Business Journal. Bryan has been recognized for effectively integrating the sports environment with entertainment. You might be familiar with some of his work, one of which includes Cowboy or ATT as some of you know it, stadium. To say Bryan has been in front of the camera a lot is an understatement. I wanted to do a portrait of him that was different than the thousands before me. The photo below is the result of my quest. Brayn is standing on a 2ft wide concrete beam that runs between the 1st and 2nd floor of the office atrium area of HKS headquarters. It’s about 14ft. straight down on each side. No one in the office thought he would crawl out there, so I scouted other locations and ideas just in case. When Bryan showed up for 0ur slotted time I told him about my idea. He promptly said, “That cool, no one has ever asked me to do that.” YES, I thought, exactly what I wanted to hear! I am very pleased with the result. It captures the essence of who Brian is. Thanks for being a sport! No pun intended!
