I was going through some images the other day and came across this one of me and Arnold Newman in his studio in New York, circa 1989. I was working for photographer Greg Booth, who was a former assistant of Arnold’s. We were in New York on assignment and had some free time. Greg decided we would swing by Arnold’s house. Knock, Knock, Knock – To my surprise Arnold answered and we ended up spending about 3 hours with him. It was like kids in a candy store. He took me on a tour of the studio and pulled out original prints of Pablo Picasso, Georgia O’Keeffe, JFK and many others. It was an amazing experience for a young photographer. Arnold was a great influence on me an my style of portraiture.
